Community Outreach

Apr 2015 - Present

235th Combat Airfield Operations Squadron

Volunteer / Community Support

Support recurring 235th CAOS community outreach through volunteer service, parades, Special Olympics events, food drives, and other local activities that connect the unit with the people it serves.

Worth noting

A few things I would call out

  1. Supported Special Olympics events as a unit volunteer, assisting with logistics, athlete support, and event operations.
  2. Participated in community parades and public outreach activities representing the 235th CAOS and the North Carolina Air National Guard.
  3. Contributed to food collection drives and other community service efforts as part of the unit's ongoing civic engagement.

01 // What was getting in the way

Guard units are deeply connected to the communities they serve. Meaningful civic engagement requires steady volunteer support across public events, service projects, and partner activities, not just formal military missions.

02 // What I did

I participate in community-facing activities organized through or associated with the 235th CAOS.

The work includes:

  • supporting Special Olympics events with logistics, athlete support, and event operations
  • representing the unit at parades and public outreach activities
  • contributing to food drives and local service efforts
  • helping maintain a professional, service-oriented presence in public settings

03 // What changed

Strengthened the unit's community presence, supported the Air National Guard's civic engagement mission, and helped build positive relationships with local organizations beyond the military operating environment.
