CitizenCon 2954 TEST Booth
Oct 2024 - Oct 2024
Director of Operations & Community Strategy
Led end-to-end booth operations for TEST Squadron at CitizenCon 2954 in Manchester as Director of Operations & Community Strategy, coordinating buildout, staffing for 20+ volunteers, livestream visibility, vendor-delivered merchandise, and community meetup execution with Bar Citizen International and TEST-led activations.
Worth noting
A few things I would call out
- Built a full convention booth in one day with three additional team members, including prop sourcing, paint and stencil prep, and local transport coordination.
- Operated the booth for two full event days with a published volunteer shift schedule for 20+ volunteers and a live booth stream for remote community visibility, supporting more than 4,000 attendees passing through the area.
- Procured and distributed over $3,000 in custom merchandise and giveaways while coordinating vendor production across pens, pins, challenge coins, shirts, stickers, and koozies.
01 // What was getting in the way
CitizenCon demanded a fast, professional, community-first activation under tight setup timelines, distributed volunteers, and strict organizer standards, while still delivering meaningful engagement for both in-person and remote members.
02 // What I did
I planned and executed a full booth operations model before arrival and on site so TEST Squadron could show up prepared instead of improvising under event pressure.
The work centered on four areas:
- Organizer and event alignment with Cloud Imperium Games staff, Bar Citizen International, and related TEST events
- Volunteer operations across schedules, coverage, and coordination for 20+ booth volunteers
- Buildout and logistics including materials sourcing, local support, and transport planning
- Merchandise production management across external vendors and internal contributors shipping to one transport point before travel
That preparation made the booth easier to operate once the event started, reduced avoidable execution risk, and turned the activation into a stronger community and brand moment instead of just a staffed presence.
03 // What changed
Delivered a high-visibility TEST Squadron presence at CitizenCon 2954 with reliable booth operations, strong attendee engagement, and visible community goodwill.
The event outcome included:
- coordinated meetups and booth operations that held together under heavy traffic
- livestream access for remote community members
- large-scale merchandise giveaways supported in part by a managed donation campaign
