Air Advisor
Nov 2024 - Present
235th Combat Airfield Operations Squadron
Air Advisor
Completed Air Advisor training in November 2024, qualifying to advise, assist, and train foreign partner nation air forces on aviation operations, airfield procedures, and Air Force standards in support of U.S. security cooperation and capacity-building objectives.
01 // The Problem
Partner nation air forces often require development of institutional knowledge, operational procedures, and technical expertise across aviation disciplines. Building that capacity requires advisors who can operate credibly within partner organizations, understand cultural and procedural differences, and transfer real operational knowledge, not just classroom instruction.
02 // Approach
I completed Air Advisor qualification through the formal USAF Air Advisor program in November 2024 to add advising capability on top of my operational airfield background.
The training covered:
- advising methodology for building genuine partner capability instead of just delivering classroom instruction
- cultural awareness and partner engagement needed to work credibly inside foreign organizations
- technical application of my ATC, airfield operations, and landing zone experience in advisor settings
That combination makes the role useful as a technical advisor, not just a generalist representative.
03 // Outcome
The qualification adds:
- Air Advisor capability to the 235th CAOS mission portfolio
- support for future security cooperation and partner nation capacity-building deployments
- a way to extend ATC and airfield operations expertise beyond U.S. airfields into partner nation aviation development
